Getting the Most Out of Your Armoured Hoodie: Fit, Feature & Care
Share
We noticed a gap for riders who wanted protection, but not at the cost of looking like they were suited up for it. So we built a hoodie that closes that gap and is something that fits into daily life just as easily as it fits into a ride. This guide will cover the fit, how to care and how to make the most out of your hoodie.
We believe that true confidence comes from being comfortable, and that what we wear is a reflection of who we are. Our hoodie lets you express your individuality and style, while offering the protection and features you need.
Please note: this hoodie offers greater protection than an ordinary hoodie when worn correctly, but it is not designed to protect from injury or death.
Getting the Fit Right
The right gear can instantly enhance your riding experience. But with an armoured hoodie, fit isn't just about comfort, it's about making sure your protection actually works when you need it.
To wear it right:
- Make sure all protectors are properly in place, with the textured side facing inward (check the markings before you head out)
- Use the belt loop clips at the sides and back to secure the hoodie in place, so armour stays positioned correctly even on long rides
- Adjust the underarm vents based on conditions — open them up for airflow on warmer days, close them to retain heat when it's cold
A properly fitted hoodie means the armour stays where it's supposed to be, exactly when you need it most.
Why the Features Matter
This isn't just a hoodie with some padding thrown in — every feature is built with real riding conditions in mind.
- Splash-resistant outer shell — handles light rain without leaving you soaked
- Armortex® lining with DuPont™ Kevlar® — abrasion, cut, and tear-resistant protection built into the fabric itself
- Ventilated underarm to side vents — adjustable airflow so you're not stuck choosing between protection and comfort
- Waterproof kangaroo pocket with waterproof zippers — keeps your essentials dry, rain or shine
- SAS-TEC Tri-Flex CE Level II armour (shoulders and elbows) — certified impact protection (CE EN 1621-1:2012)
- X-Kit CE Level I back armour — added protection across your back (CE EN 1621-2:2014)
- Reflective printing — hi-vis visibility that doesn't sacrifice style
- 3x belt loop fasteners — keeps everything secured and in place while riding
Washing & Drying, Done Right
Before washing
- Turn the hoodie inside out to protect design elements
- Remove all armour before washing — when reinserting, check the markings, with the side labeled "outside" facing outward
Washing
- Hand wash or use a gentle cycle with cold water
- Use a garment bag and wash with like colors to prevent snags from Velcro tabs
- Wash every few wears to help maintain the hoodie's water-resistant properties
Drying
- Hang dry only — avoid exposing the Kevlar lining to direct sunlight
Getting the Most Life Out of Your Hoodie
Beyond washing it right, a few everyday habits can help your armoured hoodie hold up better over time:
- Store it properly between rides — hang it up rather than balling it up or leaving it compressed in a bag, which helps the armour and shell maintain their shape
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, even outside of drying — UV exposure over time can weaken the Kevlar lining and fade reflective printing
- Keep Velcro tabs fastened when not in use — this prevents them from snagging on other fabrics (including the hoodie itself) in storage or in the wash
- Rotate wear if you ride often — giving it a break between heavy-use days can reduce wear on the outer shell and extend the life of the water-resistant coating
- Handle armour with care when removing/reinserting — avoid folding or bending the plates sharply, which can affect their shape and protective performance over time
A little consistency here goes a long way — the goal isn't just keeping it clean, it's making sure the protection stays reliable for as long as possible.
Signs It's Time to Replace It
Even the toughest gear has a lifespan — here's what to watch for:
- Worn or thinning outer shell, especially in high-contact areas
- Armour that no longer sits securely, even with proper markings and placement
- Loose or damaged Velcro tabs affecting how armour stays in place
- Faded reflective printing, reducing visibility over time
- Stretched or damaged belt loops/fasteners, affecting how securely the hoodie fits
Since this gear is protective by design, keeping an eye on wear isn't just about looks — it's about making sure it can still do its job.
